Why do we get stressed on the road?
We've all been there. You're driving along, minding your own business, when suddenly someone cuts you off or tailgates you. The next thing you know, your heart is racing and you're feeling incredibly stressed. But why does this happen? And what can we do about it?
As it turns out, there are a few reasons why we get stressed on the road. One of them has to do with the way Koreans drive. In Korea, drivers are much more aggressive than they are in other countries. This means that they're more likely to cut off other drivers or tailgate them. As a result, Korean drivers tend to be more stressed out than drivers from other cultures.
Another reason we get stressed on the road is because of something called stress control theory. This theory states that when we feel threatened or anxious, our first instinct is to try to control the situation. We do this by honking our horn or making sudden movements with our car. However, these actions only serve to increase our stress levels and make the situation worse.
So what can we do about all this stress? Well, one option is to try to avoid stressful situations on the road altogether. If you know that certain roads are going to be particularly crowded or dangerous, try to take a different route instead. Additionally, try to give yourself plenty of time so that you don't have to rush and make rash decisions while driving. Finally, make sure you take some time for yourself before getting behind the wheel so that you're not already feeling overwhelmed and stressed out when you start driving.
By following these tips, hopefully you can reduce your stress levels next time you're behind the wheel! Thanks for reading!
